ADVERTISE WITH THE OFFICE LETTER

The Office Letter provides a cost-effective way to reach a large audience of educated, motivated Microsoft Office users. Our newsletter is posted online every Monday. It is also distributed via e-mail using an opt-in approach (subscribers must actively request the newsletter; it is not sent unsolicited).

The Office Letter offers a free, Standard edition newsletter (which contains advertising) and a paid, Premium edition (which is ad free).

There are two advertising opportunities each week in our Standard edition newsletter:

  • The Top position appears just after the Table of Contents and Welcome message or first story.
  • The Mid-body position appears in the middle of the newsletter, typically after the second story.

We do not offer skyscraper or banner ads. They have not proven effective for our advertisers. Our subscribers tend to read their e-mail version and rarely visit the Web site once they have subscribed.


AD RATES

Our advertising rates for our e-mailed Standard edition newsletter are:

  • Top position: $ 8.00/M
  • Mid-body position: 5.00/M

If you wish to also include your ad in our online version, please add the following costs:

  • Top position: $ 1.00/M
  • Mid-body position: .75/M

We offer several discounts for multiple insertions that occur in consecutive editions of our Standard newsletter, as follows:

  • Two to three insertions of the same ad: 10% discount
  • Four or more insertions of the same ad: 25% discount

Though it's often the case that a subscriber shares his or her newsletter with others, we charge only by the number of subscribers, since we cannot accurately measure total readership.

Asumming a current circulation of 9800, an ad in The Office Letter will cost:

AD SPECS AND SAMPLE

Ads are text only, up to 8 lines (2 lines longer than most newsletters offer) with up to 60 characters per line. The ad body is separated by dashed lines (shown below) and the message itself is separated from these dashed lines by a blank line.

Here's an example of how your ad will look in our e-mailed newsletter:

              than 60 characters wide (you can use one or two spaces
              between sentences) 8 lines long (not including the "Sponsor"

              URL reference to your site (e.g., http://www.yoursite.com), 
              but such a link may not appear as an active (clickable) 
              link in every reader's e-mail inbox.
                            


BENEFITS OF TEXT ADS

The Office Letter is a text-only newsletter, so your ad may not include graphics.

Because your ad in the e-mailed edition is text only, it is:

  • downloaded faster
  • cleaner and easier to read
  • readable by all e-mail clients and browsers
  • visible to all users, including those using graphics- and ad-blocking utilities

Your ad in the online edition may contain graphics (a box shot or logo, for example) plus clickable links to your own Web page.



REVIEWS OF ADVERTISIED PRODUCTS

The Office Letter's editorial group chooses products for review independently of any decision by our sales team to accept advertising. Your product does not join or move to the top of our review stack because you advertise. If we do choose to review your product, the review and ad will not appear in the same issue to avoid any appearance of a conflict of interest.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Payment is due before the ad is inserted. The deadline for ad submission and cleared payment is noon, Pacific time, two days before publication (typically this is the Thursday before the Monday of publication).

We accept checks and money orders; we also accept major credit cards via PayPal. If paying by check, allow SEVEN business days for the check to clear before we will place your ad. We will send you payment details when you place your order.

We reserve the right to refuse ads for any reason, and we reserve the right to edit content to meet our editorial standards and avoid spam filters.
